Living in a simulation (created by my brain?)
I believe that my senses give me a reasonably accurate view of the world. I trust my senses because they are largely validated by other people around me.
I can understand that photons cause chemical reactions in my eyes, which shoots electrical signals into my brain, and a series of complex interactions that result in some kind of reaction - if I see a ball coming at me, I'll react by trying to catch it.
That makes sense to me as a series of interactions of real things, even if I don't understand all the nitty-gritty of how my brain works.
But what about the experience of sight? It's not just that my brain senses the ball coming at me and enacts a response, but I experience this. I see.
Does a motion-sensor that stops an elevator door from crushing you see? Is there any person or soul or whatever to see in the motion-sensor setup?
Am I just an advanced motion sensor? My body might be, but I don't think I am, because I experience.
Existing trips me out, dude.
