Re: A sign (gender)
I dunno what it was today but I finally decided I'm going to commit and get a name change and get an updated gender marker on my ID! And after work today I thought of a perfect middle and last name that made me so happy, and I treated myself to some fast food and got my food from someone with a bunch of pride pins on my hat so I'm taking that as a sign. I can do this! <3
Proud of you!
Today I scheduled a first-appointment with a new therapy office, and I asked if they could put my pronouns (they/them) on my "chart or whatever" lol. They did. Twas nice.
I find it easier "coming out" to new people than people I've known a long time. But still, it feels like I'm being a nuisance, like why do I even have to bother?
Then I see someone on a TV show correct "Mr." to "Dr.", or I imagine a woman online being called "him" and how kind of silly it would be to not correct in that case.
It's been a few years, and I still struggle with the validity of being non-binary.
Also, of concern is Fascist Executive Order #22
This order defines sex as a person’s “immutable biological classification as male or female”
As my best friend puts it:
This order is an attack on trans people and their right to express themselves freely just like everyone else. It is a gross misrepresentation of biology, which demonstrates clearly that sex and gender are much more complicated than a two-category system. Intersex people exist, making up 1.7% of the US population.
And while we're on the topic of fascism, let me direct you to my work-in-progress resistance project. Seriously, it needs a lot more work.
