Re: Minnesota Meltdown
Minnesota Meltdown | Classidential, a blog by [Redacted]
Up front I want to make it clear that I am not trying to 'pick sides' here.
Did you WATCH the video? You need to pick sides. And you should not choose to side with the administration.
It's easy to go frame by frame and analyse 'was he going to be hit? Could he avoid it?' but the people in the scenario didn't have that luxury in the moment. When you're suddenly in a fight for your life...
"When you're SUDDENLY in a fight for your life?"
Did the ICE officer not CHOOSE to stand vaguely close to the front of that vehicle? Should ICE have been in that community? Did that city or that state want ICE there? NO. Bro was not SUDDENLY in a fight for his life. And did you WATCH the video? Stop making excuses.
As for the people who insist that any enforcement of federal law is 'literally fascism' ...
You're grossly misinterpreting what ICE has been doing. This is not "any enforcement of federal law". It is an organized raiding of communities across America by men in armor and masks with no meaningful system of accountability. This is not enforcement of immigration law. It is an assault on our communities.
... and that 'the Nazis brutally murdered a woman in cold blood just for a laugh'
I don't think they did it for a laugh. They definitely murdered that woman though. And they are Nazis.
I'm not a fan of regular police either, but I bet you local police, in that same scenario, 100 times over, would not have shot that woman.
then I can only ask that you 1) take a deep breath and 2) avoid falling for the trap that has been laid for you.
- Okay. I'm still pissed and you should be too, but breathing is good. Thanks.
- Murdering a woman isn't a "trap". It's fucking murder.
Remember that this tactic works both ways. Your calls for violence and dehumanising of law enforcement officers will be seen as provocation as well. And Lord knows, we don't need more tragedy.
Tragedy is here homie. Tragedy has been here for a year. Tragedy is increasing. It is getting worse with every month he is in office. You want to see less tragedy? FUCKING RESIST. You want us to do nothing? Tragedy won't decrease if we do nothing. The U.S. Government is committing slow and steady legal genocide against trans people. Occupying foreign countries and stealing their oil. Threatening war with Europe (Greenland). Violating court orders. Dismantling public news. And SO MUCH MORE.
Edit: they replied, and I have a great appreciation for their reply post. I also replied to their reply in hopes of them seeing my appreciation
Two resistance resources I know of:
(Sidenote: America has many tragedies that started long before Trump. We have a long history of dropping bombs on middle east nations, overthrowing South American governments, enslaving black people, forbidding women from voting and owning property, among other things. Let's not stop resisting once we stop the nazi threat - which we should do through peaceful resistance.)
