Letter to my reps about forced arbitration

I sent the following to my State Senator and my State Representative in the House.

I play Rocket League, an Epic Games video game. Before playing tonight, Epic required me to agree to new terms and conditions that included forced arbitration, meaning I'm not allowed to sue them, not allowed to use our justice system if they wrong me. I'm free-to-play, but many people bought the game before it was free or have paid for in-game items.

I also have a Roku hooked up to my TV. This is a physical device i own. And a few months ago, they disabled my access to the device, pending my agreement to their new terms & conditions, which included forced arbitration.

It should be illegal for companies to force arbitration.

It should also be, perhaps more importantly, illegal for companies to remotely disable devices that we own. It's my device, and i should be able to use it as I please, under the terms i agreed to when i bought it.

Please work on this and let me know if there's any hope Illinois will legislate either of these issues, or if their are any pending bills addressing these issues.

Thanks,
Mx. Reed
